One thing I can add is:  LOSE THE "CPA LOSER" ATTITUDE!!!!  Ever hear of self-fulfilling prophecies?  Don't let it happen to you!  I would definitely recommend you change your id!

I agree 100%. That is why I have the name CPA#1 despite getting a bad score on the FAR exam. I will study study study and will become the #1 CPA even if it kills me. I recommend the OP do the same. Change your name to something more encouraging. It will make a difference.

I used Becker and found that I was trying to memorize everything rather than trying to really understand it.  That was overwhelming, and like you I have a short memory.  I understood it when I listened to the lecture, but then I had to rework several times when I did the problems.  There are some things you do have to memorize on the exam, but I found that when I got to a challenging question that I was unfamiliar with that I could not figure it out because I forgot exactly how it was supposed to be done. I changed my study strategy.  I began using Yaeger, reading Wiley and taking copious notes.  Yaeger gives you some really good tips as the instructors work through the Wiley questions with you.  I find that when I understand better I don't forget everything by the second chapter.

You will be a loser if you give up trying. Your scores are close and the retake of FAR shows improvement. Try shaking things up a little bit in your study methods. Carry note cards where ever you go. The exams are not a test of one's intelligence. Believe in yourself.

Thanks everyone for your encouragement. I will not give up yet. I also feel pressured by work and ashamed of telling people that I have not passed a part yet.  I am currently preparing for audit again, but I do hate to go over all the lectures again, but it needs to be done. It seems that I am going through the questions a lot faster than before. I also took a look at my score reports and noticed that I lost a lot of points in my simulations, so I will have to work more on this part of the exam. Any tips for the sims? Let's see how I do in a few weeks.

For the audit sims I would echo what others have said around the boards: if you master the MC then your as ready as you will ever be for the sims.  If you are still using Becker I would go over their practice sims at least once as I thought they were pretty good and help me pass that section.  You should probably also consider memorizing the standard audit report as that can help on both sims and MC.

Remember, you have LOTS of time on the audit test so take your time, work the MC and make sure you do the written section of the sims first - easy points for finishing them.

Good luck!
