I have a question about the program. Im actually
graduating with 141 credits and need only 3 more accounting
classes that I havent taken yet. LSU forces you to take 5
classes as required. But I have taken 3 of those classes
at my home college already. All I need is 3 of their
elective accounting classes. I already emailed them but do
you think that I can just take those 3 elective classes and
not the other 3 required classes?

Thanks for any help

I think you can just take the electives you want.  The only "required" classes are for those who are pursuing the certificate program.  I've seen other messages on this board where people reported they took one or two LSU classes to fulfill CPA requirements, so you shouldn't have to repeat any classes you've already taken.

I was getting a little bit frustrated with my school's high tuition, inconvenient class times, and few online courses so I decided to give LSU a call.  I really want to knock out a few more courses so I can start studying for the CPA exam and my patience is wearing thin with my current school's infexibility.

My biggest question for them was how many hoops would I have to jump through to get started taking the couple of accounting classes I want to take.

From what I found, they ask you to list pre-reqs on your application and don't force you to go through all of the hassle of sending official transcripts.  I was told that I could be taking classes in about a week after I complete the application.  That is so much easier than all of the BS hoops you have to jump through to get started at most colleges.

I think I may try to do governmental accounting and see how I like it and then I may take tax.

I just graduated with my BS in business from a small Christian college. I
want to go to grad school and pursue a CPA certification. I need some
more accounting classes and am enrolling this summer for LSU's
distance classes.   Anyone else taking classes this summer? Any
advice for me?

One of the best teachers at LSU, period! Cons: I swear there really aren't any... This class is a must take if your major has any relevance to business.
