There’s something very screwy with the CPA exam.  I took my 4th FAR retake yesterday. I don’t know what to say. This test is beyond ridiculous. They keep changing stuff around.

I got a 73 on my last attempt. I retook the test just to get those 2 points, but I'm quite certain I got below a 60 this time. I was THAT lost. I was guessing my way through the exam. What happened, you say? The exam is screwy this time, that's what. The questions were extremely odd this time compared to the last few times I took the test. It's hard to describe. But one things for certain, this is my last FAR attempt. This is not worth it. No CPA has taken a part more than 4 times to pass. I'm just not cut out for this anymore.

If your performance on this test is not what you expected, don't get discouraged, and don't give up. thats the worst thing you can do. all that time and money spent with nothing to show for it. hopefully the MC portion got you through. My Prof. always said "they want to trick you because they want to hurt you" lol

i think its best for all us not to study with the mindset on what they won't test, that'll put anyone in a detriment. i was once told, if you want something to be on the cpa exam, don't study for it. instead have the mindset that anything is up for grabs with these guys.

Also, i think because you want this to be over already you're really anxious and that can mess with you head, and make you forget things. Just my $.02

I have read various times where you have indicated the
same:basically that it's not worth all the time and effort. If this is the
way you truly feel then don't continue. But I will tell you maybe 10 or
20 or 25 years later into your career you'll regret it. I don't know how
old you are or how much you have achieved in your career but I would
assume based on several posts you have made, that perhaps you
have just started.
The certification is not going to make you a better accountant or
Controller or for that matter a better CFO. To me, it only proves that I
am a better test taker than the guy who hasn't passed it....that's
all. Believe me, I have worked alongside of CPA's that make you
scratch your head and wonder....huh?
If you think you are not deservant of the certification because you
cannot pass after three attempts, then look at some of the folks here
who have taken it 10 or 14 times and finally passed it.

I speak from experience having reached pretty high levels in my
career but always wondering the possibility of having gone even
further if maybe I did have the certification. I like you thought this was
not worth the effort. I regret it now. So now, I really don't need the
CPA to advance my career. I'm doing it because I want to and to
prove to myself that I can pass the exam. Before you have a chance
to exhale your career will be over and one thing you'll remember will
be your successes and your failures. Don't put this one in the latter.

Don't stop now.....keep at it. You will be glad you did. Good luck!

t's not about how hard you hit.....it's about how hard you get hit and
keep moving forward....how much you can take and keep moving
forward....that's how winning is done.....Rocky Balboa
