I work Monday - Friday 8-5. If I'm lucky I can make it to my house by 6 put on my comfy jeans, pack my backpack with the essentials (water, review books, laptop, sweatshirt, and a PBJ sandwich).  Study at the UTA library from 6:45 to 11:15 ( I get kicked out at midnight because I'm not a student anymore).  If I can get to bed by 1, then Im ok.  I do not and will not study Fridays. Saturdays & Sundays I study about 4 hours each day.  This is my strategy I started this right after I took my BEC exam in late August.

My previous strategy consisted of about 2 hrs a day studying, occasionally on the weekend, this did not work (please see my FAR score below).

Luckily my boyfriend is in college & he motivates me to go study with him.

Besides my boyfriend and my 2 yorkies I have no social life and I do not get out much.  I can not wait to get this exam over with!!!

work full time, single, no children, no school, commute 2 hrs round trip

M-F: work 9-5 get home around 6, eat, nap, study 8-12 or later

Sat-Sun: workout 2 hrs in the morning, plan to study for 8 hrs, actually study about 3-6 hrs

went out and partied every wknd on first 2 attempts but now maybe once a month on last attempt. life sux right now and i am making the necessary sacrafices but it seems like it is not paying off.

my scores, although slightly improving, are pretty much the same as when i went out every wknd (see scores below). this leads me to believe it is either my study technique or study material (using becker live).

not sure what i'm doing wrong, so confused!!!!

If you are really studying 26 hours a week like you say you are, then it probably is your study technique or the material.  You are either spending not enough time on certain sections or possibly too much time on certain sections.  Before you go into the exams do you feel like you have covered all of the material?

Maybe you should stop doing the live classes and get dvd lectures that you can watch, stop, and rewind as many times as you need to until you fully understand something.  If Becker isn't working for you, try Yaeger.  The Wiley books are really good.

I know what you mean about feeling like you aren't making any progress.  I feel like I'm not understanding what I read 90% of the time, but if I keep trying I eventually understand it.  Don't give up!

AN8,

thank you for your response. i do feel like i covered all materials presented in becker before the exams but i never feel 100% ready, thought it was just pretest jitters.

i actually started with becker self study and switched to live cuz i wasn't passing. realized that both live and self study are pretty similar, live instructors are hit or miss.

i may have to switch to yaeger if i don't pass this time but that means i have to dig into my own wallet, my employer paid for becker. oh well, what's another $1000+ i've already invested

the day i give up is the day i die, and right before i take my last breath i will be going over mcq

You can't pass the exam by just covering all the material.  You really have learn it.  Give yourself enough to study for the exam and really master the material.  You can't master everything, but if you really know a lot of the sections, you should be able to pass.  My husband made below a 50 the first time he took FAR, and that's what I told him.
