Hi, I am a MS in accounting student in St.John's university at New York City. My school has a lot of international accounting students. I had a conversation with one of them, and she told me that very few of those Chinese get interviews with the Big Four. I asked another friend in Baruch, she also told me that Chinese are very hard to get interviews with Big Four. So my question is that is it because the Big Four assume most Chinese students are international students and with bad English ability? Or it is because Chinese is a minority group so we get less chances? I am personally an immigrant from China and I have green card, and I graduated from a liberal art college, skidmore college with a math major. I do not know if all of the above will happen to me when I start my job hunt. Any advices will be appreciated! Thank you so much!

It is difficult to get an interview with Big4 even if you're a local.

Just try to submit your resume. Who knows...

I work in Big4, and have worked for several Chinese colleagues.

Regarding your comment about Chinese "getting less chances", I would respectfully disagree.  First, public accounting jobs are based on being qualified, so if you are qualified, you should be able to get a position, regardless of race.  Second, Big4 has affirmative action programs to "help your chances" as you say.

thanks for the reply. So in order to be qualified, will the strong GPA help? I personally do not have any work experience, and GPA is the only thing I can count on.

I would say a strong GPA, good interpersonal and communication skills, a willingness to learn, CPA exam candidate, etc..

Good luck.
