New to the board.  30 year old accountant with years of accounting experience but wife and I decided I should become a CPA because she wants to work part time and stay home with the kids.  She's hoping I make more money:)  Long story short, I am taking Becker right now and don't need advice on if anything else is better because it was darn expensive and I don't have the money to try another program.  I might buy the flashcards.

I'm taking the courses one at a time and currently taking BEC in Phoenix.  I have taken three sections, taking B4 Saturday and B5 Thursday.  Then I'll either sit for the exam end of November or January

I really need some advice.  You all seem smart in here.  I felt like crying when taking B3 Saturday afternoon because it just seemed like so much that I don't ever remember from school.  I graduated in 2003 and didn't look at an accounting book between now and two weeks ago.  B1, about business types, I feel comfortable with but would like some advice on how to really study besides doing my Becker Homework, B2 has been ok and B3 I'm afraid to even look at.

Has anyone been in my situation?  What have you done step by step?Any advice I could get would be invaluable.  Should I read the chapters over?  Buy the Becker flashcards?  Listen to the lecture cds?  How do you all fight the lazy feeling, the tv, and all that stuff?  I guess I need some sort of a pep talk.  Thanks so much.

Graduated 2003... You are better than a lot of us here.  I graduated 1991 and in another country.  Nothing in this review is review anymore, they are all seem to be first view for me.

Ready made Flash Card is not worth your money in my opinion.  Make your own flashcard and you will find it more useful.

How do you fight lazy feeling... you can't!  It will always be there.  You just need to be more hard on yourself with self-descipline.  I made a fact with my children.  I told them seem I always get on them for watching TV before doing homework, they ought to do the same to me. They love it, and it's keeping me in line.

Good Luck with you.

Everyone has their own brand of learning style. you need to determine what is more effective. Do you learn quickly by reading or listening? Once you determine your style, then stick to it. If you feel you need more detail than a review course offers, get a textbook and learn. The most important part is MCQ. Practice MCQ's atleast 3 times and you will gain confidence.

Once you start studying, everything will come back to you.
