I'm sorry if this topic has been covered, but I couldn't find it!

In general, how did everyone prepare for the written communication portion of the simulation?  I usually do not practice that part of the simulations on Becker aside from reading the solution after thinking of my own response.

Do you think if you have confidence in your writing abilities and a grasp on the material you are prepared for the writing portion?

Also, I notice some Becker solutions for the written portions are brief, whereas some are more in-depth.  While I will try to answer the question completely and accurately, is "less more"(concise, short) or is "more more"?

Finally, was anyone able to use the research tab to aid them in their written communication?

6 days until I'll know all this on my own I guess...

I prepared more or less the same way you did, except I was using Wiley instead of Becker.  I counted on my writing skills + knowledge of the area to get me through.

In general, I would say write as much as you need to answer the topic thoroughly and accurately.  Don't add sentences just to get some extra length.  Mostly the idea is that you are writing to either your client or your colleagues.  They don't want to read a bunch of fluff, and neither do the graders.

I did use the research tab to help in my written comms.  If you have the time and think you can find the write research section, I would certainly suggest doing so.  I know that for me, there were some extra ideas that I would not have come up with on my own that I was able to incorporate based on the research.  Just make sure that you don't run out of time to complete your writing because you are messing around with trying to find the research.

In the written communication, I would definitely say less is more... being concise is always a plus... it gives you less opportunities to make errors... if you can find the answer in the research tab, then use it...

Based on my experience... the structure of the letter/memo, whom it is address to, grammar, the way the sentences connect, and how appropriate the language is for the audiance is what you should be more concerned about... in FAR, they can ask you the smallest detail about something you've never heard of so the content may be garbage, but if that other stuff is fine, you'll do well on it
