I'm not much of a lecture guy and never was in college.  Always learned the best by reading text books and working problems on my own.  My question is, how critical are the Becker lectures to the overall review process of the course?  I've been told the lectures are straight from the books.  Could you skip them and not be at a disadvantage?

The lectures from Becker are straight out of the books, but the national instructors inform you what concepts are the most important.  Also they give you some notes to put in the margins to help explain topics or different ways some types of questions might be phrased.  I like the lectures, though sometimes boring, I think it has helped me pass REG and will hopefully help me pass the other sections as well.

Lectures definitely give you an edge in studying for the exam.  Peter O'Linto and Tim Gearty tell you what's most important during the lecture and get you to highlight where emphasis needs to be placed.

Both have there quirks but they're definitely worth taking the time to listen too.  They're good at giving you ways to remember things.  Stupid stuff Tim Gearty says helps me at times going through MC questions.

Besides, if you begin to feel the lectures aren't helping than you can always stop them and read on and do questions.

I would recommend watching the lectures.  I think they help me understand the material much better.  However, it all depends on how you learn best.

My friend that I work with has passed REG and AUD, and failed with a 73 on FAR.  He doesn't watch the lectures at all.  He just reads the book and works the homework.  I didn't believe him at first, but he showed me his DVD's and they weren't opened....so it can be done.

Incredible.
