Unfortunately, I have experience retaking AUD. Those who have read my posts in the pass, know I'm a Gleim freak! I DO NOT like Gleim for AUD next to Becker. Becker is all you need and it is the very best for AUD. I only feel this way about AUD for Becker.
As far as the rest of the exam sections, Becker is great for bits and pieces with Gleim to fill in for Becker's weaknesses. Of course, you only know this if you've failed the exam like myself. Hopefully, you don't have to experience this.
If Becker is too much, for the AUD section only, find the money! You won't have to retake it. A couple of acquaintances from college passed the AUD section on the first time because they used Becker. If they can do it, TRUST ME....so can you and I don't even know you!
I had an NTS issue and I did not have time to use Becker's passmaster. I have Becker's Final Review course and used this, along with Gleim (I used Gleim the first time). Because I didn't fail AUD the first time miserably, and really studied hard with Gleim, I retained a lot of what I learned from two years ago - yes Gleim is that good. At the time (2 years ago), being a newbie at the exam, if you are an average learner, 6 weeks of Gleim isn't enough time. You "might" be able to get through the material once if you're lucky.
Becker makes it so easy to memorize the concept and get through the exam - the goal is to pass the exam. Gleim has a way of forcing you to really understand every overkill detail about every nook and cranny of information. So if you have a 1000 years, take Gleim and you will pass AUD - it's not necessary with Becker around!
Two years, for FAR, Becker is where it was at! It's not the case anymore! I know a lot of people failing FAR multiple times with Becker. I'm not sure what's happening.....
Look around here on CPAnet! There are a lot of people who took FAR using Becker to prepare and are feeling uncertain about their success. It wasn't like this last window! Maybe the AICPA is tightening the nuse.
Good luck!
