So I took the exam on May 25th and have since started to restudy for
FAR(which I failed in October with a 74). Then today I get my REG results(I
live in Oregon aka Snail mail...dont even get me started on that BS)...and I
failed with a 71.

I am seriously starting to want to quit these stupid exams...I got hired by
an accounting firm in February which has taken alot of pressure off of me
to pass them which helps...but my wife and I have a newborn baby(4
months old) and I wish I was just done with these exams so I could have
more time to play with my son...but it seems like the end is nowhere in
sight(I only have BEC out of the way, it expires 5/24/12)

The more I fail these exams the more I am starting to realize how much of
a money making machine the exam process is for everyone
involved(NASBA/state boards, etc). If they fail over 50% of the candidates
then they will have a constant money stream with people having to retake
each window.

I got the following results back:
Ethics & Legal Responsibilities(15-19%) = Stronger
Business Law(17-21%) = Stronger
Federal Tax Process(11-15%) = Weaker
Taxation on Property Transactions(12-16%) = Weaker
Taxation on Individuals(13-19%) = Comparable
Taxation on Entities(18-24%) = Stronger

Sims = Weaker

I must have REALLY blown the simulations...it might have been the fact
that I had two tabs on Installment sales and how to classify the gains and
losses on the installments between the various property sections. I think
which had about a page of coverage in the study materials(Roger Cram
and CPA Excel).

I always love it when i get hit with sims that my study materials dont help
me with effectively.

This whole thing has gotten me really down...I feel like I am going to
spend the rest of my life trying to pass these stupid exams.

Being a CPA has nothing to do with your performance in an accounting
firm...it has everything to do with your ability to take a test. And in my
opinion...that isn't the way it should be

Sorry to ramble on but I feel so depressed by this result that I have to vent

@thunderfan0

I can totally feel and understand the frustration and the pain.

But pleaseeee dont give up............ you are so close to passing. You r short just by few points, i agree those few points make the difference, but look at the brighter side , since you already covered up so much material to reach 70's you just have to add up few more points and tactics to your test taking skills. I totally understand how difficult it would be to not be able to spend time with the little one, as i have two kids one in 2nd grade and other one in preschool( it kills me when i use the T.V. as the baby sitter )

With more than 10 months in your hand i think you can surely succeed.

Wish you all good luck

I agree with the others. Don't give up. You can't get the time back that you already put in...so you might as well continue so that you have something to show for it.

My daugther is 2 1/2 so I know what you are feeling. That is why I am up late now. I don't start studying until I put her bed. I still have to get my hours in regardless of WHEN I start studying.
