sreegandhi, you have two options to transfer your grades from NH to CO. You didn't specify whether you have passed all sections of the exam as an NH candidate, so I have assumed that you have not. If you have passed all sections of the exam, only Option 2 applies.

Option 1
Under this option, you transfer the grades for sections completed in NH and take the remaining sections as a candidate of CO. To do this:

1. Complete an Initial Application for Colorado (available for download from the NASBA website here). You will need to pay the CO application fee of $135 and resubmit copies of your Indian M.Com evaluation for the Colorado board's approval. You will also need to wait about 6 weeks for the application to be processed.

2. Once you have been notified that you are approved as a candidate of Colorado, you will need to apply to transfer your grades from NH to CO. Telephone NASBA (800-CPA-EXAM) and request a transfer of your scores from NH to CO. You may need to complete a form and pay a fee (about $25-$50)

You will then complete the remaining exam sections and process of becoming a CPA as a candidate of Colorado

Option 2
Use this option if you have passed all 4 sections in NH and wish to transfer the grades to CO.

First, you will need to take the AICPA ethics exam.

Then, you will need to complete a Transfer of Grades Application available here and submit it to NASBA Licensing Services, along with a fee for $165 plus an evaluation of your Indian M.Com, evidence that you have passed the ethics exam and other documentation.

Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot lola_m, the info. that you gave is very helpful.

I just gave audit yesterday, my next one and hopefully the last is Reg.So option 2 is the one for me.

Are you sure that I need to take the CO ethics before I transfer credits.Have you gone thru this? And also will CO ask for a fresh evaluation of my foriegn credentials?

sreegandhi, your application for transfer of grades to the CO Board must include a copy of your AICPA Ethics Exam Certificate of Completion. Your application will be returned to you as incomplete if the certificate is not provided (see page 3 of the CO transfer of grades app). So yes, they want you to take the exam before you apply to transfer your grades. Which seems a weird way of doing it, but that's how they want it.

Also, yes to your second question. Although you have already sent your evaluation to NH, the CO Board will also require a copy for their files. Like the ethics exam completion certificate, your application will be returned as incomplete if this isn't received. Since you have already had your evaluationd done for the NH Board, FACS or ECE or whatever agency you used to evaluate your transcript may be able to resend a copy of that evaluation without requiring your transcripts again and at a reduced price (you should check with them).

Hope this clarified for you. To answer your question, I am not a current CPA candidate but my employment relates to the CPA exam.

It 's really good to have somebody who has solid information onall these matters.I am tempted to ask more questions!

I reside In IL , and when I intially considered doing CPA I noticed that IL requirements mentioned that I need a taxation paper to my credit which I don't have.So I opted for NH.My evaluation report says that I have 150 hours So I can opt either CO or IL.Do you have any information whether IL requires tax paper?

Also if I do CO ethics exam can I use CPA designation for a career in corporate finance? I am sure I wouldn't go for public accounting.

Thanks in advance for your help.
