Hello,
I need some advice regarding my situation!
To be eligible to take the CPA exam in the state of NY, I have to take a course in auditing in a college or university.
Since I would like to prepare for the CPA this fall and take the CPA in Jan. / Feb. 2013, I would ideally like to complete this auditing class as soon as I can.
Do you have any recommendation? I do not have any preferences between live (in NYC) or online. I am just looking to complete this requirement as soon as possible.

I am actually in the same predicament. I never took auditing in undergrad
because I was on the internal audit track and took internal audit instead.
Not sure why, but my school allowed you to substitute internal audit with
audit at the time (they changed their policy now, for obvious reasons). Now,
it looks like I am screwed. I am actually enrolled in an MS in tax right now,
however I would have to take Intermediate Accounting before I can take
Auditing as a prerequisite. SInce I am enrolled in the MS in Tax program,
this would delay my graduation and force me to pay for an extra class that
is not even required for my degree.
I think that not requiring an Auditing class to get a BBA in accounting does
not make sense. I did not realize how much weigh my decision to take
internal audit instead of audit would have on my future because at the time
I was not 100% sure I wanted to take the CPA. If I was not enrolled in a
graduate program right now, it would have been even harder. Now, I am
stuck.
I would rather graduate and take the auditing class online during the
summer or maybe even at a community college, however it looks like you
need Financial Accounting as a prerequisite in almost every school...
Can anyone give some advice?
