What was wrong with BEC for Lambers?

Kobey,

I didn't like the style of the professor. He just doesn't teach or "transmit" the knowledge, but only does MC questions without even explaining the rationale...and his hand writing is awful. To make things worse, he gives most of the BEC section material including Planning & Measurement (Cost, Managerial, etc), which is heavy on the exam.

But that's my take. I've been out of college for some years now and have no practical experience in Cost Acctng, so I need a better "refresher". Lambers books are excellent though, with lots of exercises.

I think you're talking about the old guy with a southern accent, a full head of hair and glasses Bill Grubbs, right?? If that's him, I absolutely agree with you as he teaches much of FARE (which I'm studying for now) and does a lot of problems without really explaining the concepts.

And his writing is awful. You'd think they'd try to at least improve on something as important as that. I also agree about Garland Granger and auditing, which I will study next. From what little I've seen from him, he is first rate. Thanks for the heads up. I'll think twice about BEC for Lambers.

I didn't want to mention names but that's him...Bill Grubbs. I know he's in FARE also, so I'll be looking some place else for this area. Mr. Grubbs is a veteran and he seems to know accounting from A to Z, and I respect that. But he's not the kind of professor to put on a video of this kind...as I said, he does not "transmit" the knowledge.

Garland in AUD is First Class. And he (Garland) also teaches IT in BEC (which seems t/b traumatic for many) and Economics.

I'm wondering about the study materials that come with Roger Philipps' course.  I like his lecture style, but the course seems to come with his own review books and/or Wiley. I've heard mixed things about Wiley, and I don't know how good the course software is.  From what I've heard, Becker has the best software, but are the lectures as good as Philipps?  Opinions?
