I have worked for this firm for 14 years. I was in the military before that. After I got out of the military, I had some bookkeeping skills and got hired at this firm and I have been here ever since. I was satisfied just being a bookkeeper for a long time, eventhough I was doing CPA work. Then I decided to become an EA back in 2003 and once I saw that my employers were getting a little older and it was discussed that more than likely when they retired a couple of us would take over, then I decided to go back to school and become a CPA. I had worked for a short time at another CPA firm in a different state before I moved back to Virginia and started at this firm.

Thank you guys for the information, yes they do pay overtime. Now, my question is, should I get that job? or stick to my present job, where it pays about the same without overtime but less stress. Should I look into working in a Firm right now or should I concentrate on studying? I still have FARE, BEC,and AUDIT left, and I dont think I can still find time to study during tax season if I will accept it. Please advice!

Thanks,

Lucky

LUCKY0416>>

Did you mention about your location and public experiences at all?

It will start from there whether you passed CPA or NOT.

I have very little experience with tax, that is it! so I cannot really ask them for more. What do you mean by it will start from there whether I passed or not? BTW, I am in ohio.

pennwood:  Thank you for your posts.  I appreciate hearing from someone happy with a position other than with the Big 4.

I'm about your age and start with a public accounting firm in January.  I'll be working in the tax department. I'm a little wary of the seasonal hours, but otherwise looking forward to it.

lucky:  I would not focus on salary so much as opportunity.  JMO.
