DU is a private school so tuition is steep, but they have a lot of money and they are very generous with scholarships. If you're interested in going I would recommend applying and if you get in see if they will give you some sort of scholarship.

I work in the Bay Area and my salary is decent, but I'm not a CPA yet I still need the experience.

Thanks for the reply.

So, this is your first year in the public accounting, right? same here..

I am not CPA yet. I am in the So. Cali.. and Getting 45k..working small CPA firm.. I am thinking of moving into bigger firm in 3yrs with my MBT.

How much should i expect? Doest MBT really count 10% additional on your salary?

I got a fairly good bump in salary but the Norcal market is different than Socal. The firms should give you something, if they don't then find someone else...the Big 4 certainly are desprate for people with MST degrees.

Where did you go for undergrad?

How much work do you have to do in the MST program? Is it mostly research and papers? Im looking to finish in a year when I enter a program.

At any established and reputable program (and believe me there are many MST programs which are neither), you're going to do a lot of work. Tax is not an easy subject to learn. That being said, it wasn't that bad. In my program I worked a lot but I had a social life and partied a lot too. Which program were you looking into applying to?

I am applying to  I live in y so I don't have to relocate. I kinda thought it is a lot of work to get a MST. What's harder; studying for the CPA exam or getting the MST?

Between CSUF and Cal Poly, I would choose CSUF in a heartbeat. It's a great program and is established and reputable.

It's hard to compare the two, I'd say studying for the CPA exam is harder just because it's such a long, drawn-out test.
