Sorry about the section mess up! I'm sitting for REG in a few weeks... and I'm in the frame of mind that everyone else in the world is too!
You have it down based on what I posted. Now keep in mind, that post was directed to a person, who is studying their A$% off but there are a few more things they learn. This person is realistically very close to passing the exam on the first shot (as long as emotional issues don't kick in - running out of time, nervous, etc), assuming this person continues to diligently study, it makes perfect sense to give this person a couple more weeks to study. A couple of more weeks couple make or break this person!
Now, if you are a procrastinator, and your just F^&* off... going to bar on Friday nights after work until midnight and blowing off studying that night, waking up at noon the next day, feeling like crap and you decide your going to study for in "drips and drabs" for the weekend, then SIT FOR THE EXAM AND DON'T CANCEL YOUR APPOINTMENT. Get the experience! If money isn't an issue or you just don't care about it, and you have your whole life to spare and you pass the exam when you get around to it, I strongly suggest this advice. After about 3-4 times of taking BEC and spending about $1500-$2000 in expenses, you'll pass it!
The option is yours. You can get your crap together and buckle down and focus and just get the work done, or you can Micky Mouse around with it.
I'm glad that my previous post helped you by reminding you this isn't some 6 week college course that you can go to the bar on the weekend, cram on Monday, and pass the exam on Tuesday! The AICPA will make sure you know what you are doing first before you pass the sections. You gotta know the material! BEC is a medley of crap to learn - I hate the section! I'm sitting for it after REG.
My question to you is... How much will it cost you to become a CPA? $2500 Becker + $1000 CPA fees & expenses = Total $3500? Or.....will it cost $7000 or $10,000? No one around here...talks about how much it will actual cost. What about the cost of the stress and your time? Heck...My boss is billing me out at $150 an hour with only two years experience in tax. He thinks my time is worth that and obviously the clients think so.
Let's say your time is worth $50 right now. How many hours do we have to put in? 30 hours * 6 weeks = 180 MININUM hours....at how much? $50 an hour! That's $9000 for one section! Times four? $36,000 plus fees $3500 = $39,500!
This is my second round with this exam! Say my boss decides to sell me cheap at $50 an hour...I'm already at $39,500 plus I gotta do it again and I got another review course (Gleim) at a $1000! So now I'm at: 40,500 2nd + 39,500 1st = Total Cost of CPA Exam $80,000!
Remember...I might spend $80,000 on the exam for both times and may not reach my goal of passing it!
I hope this is a sobaring thought for you.... your time is valuable and so is money.
Good luck with the exams and the choices you make to achieve your goals.
