No doubt that Big 4 is a dream for everyone...  I am a foreigner and also english is my second language.  My gpa is 3.94 and few years later I also finished the master in finance.  I know it is difficult for me to complete in other country.   I told myself work as hard as I can.   My first job was corp staff accountant in medium size financial service company and I always helped others and did more than my boss asked.  Today, I earns almost 100 k without any big 4 experience.  Last year I started to study cpa since I want to keep myself competitive in the accounting feild.  No one gurantee life is easy, but I believe all roads lead to Rome.

Hope eveyone's dream come truth...

Yes..all roads lead to Rome. I agree. We all want that $100K..maybe $200K..or more..but Big Four is the quickest way if you aren't going to have your own business.

The advice you got is fine. In addition you can find someone working with the firm and ask them to submit your resume internally.

Don't forget each company career's website. One girl who studied with me and did that was contacted by Deloitte. If you get a job at a smaller CPA firm in audit that will help you to get as experienced hire into big 4 audit line of service. I know a guy who worked 6 month at local CPA firm, submitted resume through friend and was hired. Last year we had employee referral program in areas we needed people. I think it is over but  to get as experienced hire you need some prior audit experience.

Try doing everything something should work out. Good luck.

From my experience, I don't think it's really that hard to get hired by the Big 4. Decent grades (3.5 and up) and a good personality and I'm sure one of them will pick you up. As far as the low GPA thing goes, I think it depends on the interviewer. If your interviewer or person reviewing your resume didn't get good grades than they might cut you some slack. For me, I place a high value on grades. College is not that hard unless your at an Ivey or similar school. Getting good or bad grades is almost always a choice, regardless of how many hours you worked. Take it from someone who went to a really crappy state school at age 18 and achieved a GPA of .72 while not working. Thats less than a D average. It was a choice. After a stint in the military, I got into to a much better top 50 school and graduated with a 3.95 while working full-time, taking 18 credit loads, and participating in the reserves. It wasn't even that hard. It was simply a choice. So for me, the bad grade excuse will carry very little weight. If you don't have time to study, you simply sleep less. If you want to get ahead you must make sacrifices. And to me, there are very few valid reasons for having a GPA below 3.0 other than serious illness ect...
