Hi everyone. Having used the Wiley prep material and sat for the exam, I wanted to provide some insight for anyone considering an alternative to Becker. In general, the Wiley textbooks are more comprehensive than Becker, containing an abundance of information, some to unnecessary degrees of specificity, on all CPA-related topics, whether likely to be tested on or not. In contrast, this is where Becker shines: in its focus and presentation. Information on each topic is presented only to the degree it will be required for the exam. In addition, most pages are formatted and arranged cleanly so that studying feels less like reading a wall of text as it does with Wiley. Having said that, Wiley is only a fraction of the cost of Becker, and more importantly, provides all the necessary information you need to pass the test with flying colors.

Has anyone actually read the entire Wiley FAR book and passed? Is this possible? It seems like it would take months to get thourgh it all. I just received the 2010 FAR book from Wiley and it is massive (bigger than a telephone directory). Should you do all of the questions in the book?

HECK NO! There is noway you could possibly absorb all of the information in the Wiley book from just reading it. I have Yaeger lectures and Wiley FAR book. I could never read the Wiley book, but with Yaeger they go over the most important concepts and basically skim the book. There is just too much detail in Wiley to make actually reading the entire book worth it.
If you don't want to spend money on the video lectures, then goto cpa-exam.org and print out the Content Specific Outlines (CSO's). Then try making a study plan from the CSO's and the Wiley table of contents.

I would suggest doing all of the questions in the book. As Bill, and
Phil, from Yaeger both say, doing the M/Cs is the best prep for the
test. I have read the entire Wiley book and had the help of Yaeger to
hit the high important points. Good luck.
