I have been using both Wiley and Gleim.  I would say the Wiley questions are a bit longer and slightly harder than Gleim.  I am surprised that a lot of the same questions in the book are also used by Gleim. I do the recommended questions in the book and if I'm still not comfortable with the concepts I do a few questions from Gleim immediately after.  I think both give great explanations as to why a particular answer is correct or incorrect.

I would recommed getting both as they complement each other very well.

Hi everyone,

I have an older version (2007) of the wiley book and the software 13.0. I am thinking at this point I am no longer going to use the book to do the questions and use the software because it seems as though it would go by a bit quicker and I can see the explanations for the wrong answers.

What are your thoughts on this if any?

Also, I plan to supplement another book for the recent upates not covered in Wiley.

Personally I think the Wiley questions tend to be worded in such a way as to intentionally trip you up.  I particulary hate those insanely obscurely worded questions that I call "Oswald Bates questions".  Those I will guess on in a heartbeat and move on.  My standpoint is, if my passing or failing hinges on one of those type of questions, then it says more about the AICPA's ability to needlessly confuse the hell outta me than my accounting ability to protect the public ever could.

Hahaha.  I'm so glad I read this.  I'm using 2009 Wiley and second-hand 2009 Becker.  Wiley blows my mind after a while.  Some of it is so convoluted it takes me a while to imagine how some situation could actually occur in real life (truck flies off the road, involuntary conversion, but before period end miraculously repairs itself up to a % = 2 x the driver's age right before his next birthday).

If you say Wiley REG is too much, I think I'll skip it.  I have the book, but I don't want to go through more oddness.  I did pass BEC with Wiley only but I had nothing to compare it with at that point.

The biggest changes in the exam sections between 2007 and 2009 are in FAR.  Thinking you can get by with the old book is a real crapshoot.  Your odds of success would be better at a casino craps table.

How much is it going to cost you to buy a 2009 Wiley book and version 14.0 software?  Think about it.  It's a lot LESS expensive than the time and money you will spend re-registering and studying all over again if you fail the exam.

Question for those who owns version 14.0 software. Can you ask the system to pull questions ONLY from the BOOK ?

If not, are those just additional questions (not the exact questions from the book ) to help you understand the concepts ?

I have trouble remembering over 1,100 questions Wiley have in the book, so don't want to try another 1,000 or so from the CD.

Any suggestion ? Do I have to have the CD ?
