How do we feel about the current economic conditions and the effect that it may have on the accounting profession?
As
we see the banks going under and an increase in layoffs, do we think
that the accounting firms and their employees may face the same
dilemmas?

Well, at my firm we are trying to hire like crazy to properly staff these jobs to make sure we arn't streatched so thin that we can't manage the increased risks. We are turning away business due to staff levels being so low. This is a great time for auditors. Clients seem more understanding to our increased requests and samples because they know we are just trying to mitigate our risks.

Totally makes sense... Public Accounting is not likely to ever decline! Especially with the new International Standards knocking on the door. Even in a terrible economic time like this, we will still have jobs if not more then a normal time!
