Dear CPAChess,

Further to your Oct 28 advice, would you please kindkly advise actually how many credits in accounting are required in Maine ?

Following is indicated in "STATE OF MAINE BOARD OF ACCOUNTANCY
LAWS AND RULES" but actually how many credits in accounting are required is not indicted.

Quoted

the total educational program to include basic courses in accounting and auditing determined to be appropriate under board rules

Unquoted

Thank you very much in advance !

Sorry I do not know exactly how many units.  From my understanding Basic Courses is 6 credits (Accounting Principle I & II) and the Auditing is either 3 or 6 credits.  But Colleges have certain pre-requisites to enroll in a certain class.  Depending on the college, you may need several accounting courses to enroll in Auditing class.

FYI... I found out that in Maine you can sit for the CPA exam for the PA license (not CPA) but only need Bachelor's degree

It's probably best for you to inquire directly from Maine Board of Accountancy at

Maine Board of Accountancy

35 State House Station

Augusta, ME 04333
Phone: 207-624-8603
Fax: 207-624-8637
Email: cheryl.c.hersom@maine.gov
Web: www.maine.gov/pfr/professionallicensing

Also, see this thread... the guy has the same situation as you are.

Dear CPAChess,

Thank you very much again for your quick response !

Actually I sent my inquiry e-mail to cpaes-me@nasba.org twice but since 2 weeks ago but no response at all.

Anyway, I will try to send my inquiry to the e-mail address mentioned by you.

Best Regards
