After much deliberation I'm actually thinking about joining the NYC fire department. Yes, it is surprising that after all these years of school, passing the CPA exam, almost a masters in taxation I would make such a move.

Its comes down to quality of life for me at this point. I would rather work 2 days (2 24 hour shifts), run into fires, rescue people,  hang out with the guys at the firehouse, etc. than sit behind a desk and account for other people's messes and headache's. If i want more money I can start my own business,  like most other firemen do. I need excitement at my job and accounting just doesn't do it for me.
