BTW, I hear that some of the big 4 are so deep in the hole that they are seeking gov't aid.  I would love to see the day the mighty "big 4" turn into the "big failures."

God, please let this happen.

Not to burst any bubbles here, but the big 4 don't qualify under TARP or any of the recent government initiatives and since probably 90% of cost at professional services firms is headcount, it's pretty easy for them to reduce costs if they got in over their head. The only risk accounting firms have in terms of going concern is litigation risk, but after Andersen, the remaining 4 are basically too big to fail. This is why government prosecutors didn't aggressively go after KPMG for that tax shelter scandal.

I wish our auditors looked good naked; I feel like I'm missing out.

Yeah, the auditors at my company right now are ok...but not fantastic. If they were better, then they probably would have found another line of work.

Wow. There is so much hate in this post. Frankly, if you hate the big 4, why did you apply. Is it possible your dislike stemmed from the rejection? I know I felt that way when my first choice employer rejected me. I'm still not really over it. I work for one of the big 4 and we hire the most qualified group of candidates. It's definately not about looks but more the whole package. And to whoever said the CPA is not needed obviously has no first hand knowledge. Why on earth would your superiors hold something against you for passing? Thats the craziest thing i've ever heard.
