Just continue to take it all through VA until you pass all 4 sections.  Once you do that contact the state board, of the state you are moving to, and ask them what you have to do to transfer your scores.  It will just take a little extra paper work, and maybe another 30-50 bucks and you should be fine.

Or you could just get your license in VA and apply for reciprocity in the other state and be licensed in multiple states.

I know when you go in to take the test you have to show proof of I.D. and I usually use my license. If I have a VA license, a MD address will this cause conflict?

If I am staying in MD, do I register to take the test in VA and then just commute to the testing center in VA?

it wont be an issue as long as your name is same as on the NTS and your license photo looks like you...you can take the test all over USA, no matter which state you are registered in..

like i live in Texas but am registered in Georgia for last few years...i take the test in TX and my driving license is GA...once i clear all 4 parts i will just get my license in GA and then get it transferred to wherever i move...hope that helps :)

it sounds like you're asking about the exam itself, that you've already started as a VA candidate --- which doesn't matter as far as passing the exam itself.  you can continue to sit as a VA candidate anywhere in the country.  (i.e. i sat for it as a NY candidate, but have physically sat for exams in 4 different states, while living in 2 different states, none of which were NY).

however, the actually licensure unique to your state once you've completed the exam, you will need to determine with your state's experience requirements and/or if want to transfer completely to another state, that states requirements.  technically, if you want to cut over to another state right away, you can transfer the credit for the passed exam to a new state right away, and go from there - - - but personally i think it's less confusing if you just finished the CPA with the candidacy you've started, and then decide the next step for another state.
