Hey All,

I'm trying to get some recommendation in my study program. I have failed audit 3 times now with the score 65, 70, 71 and FAR 66, 72. I been using the Wiley08 books and some old Becker 04 materials (but mainly Wiley). Is there other study materials that you guys would recommend that is better for these 2 sections? Did any people in similar situation in the past try something new and worked? Thanks...apppreciated.

Anson,

I'd definitely recommend not using the old Becker material.  A lot has changed since then so you are getting outdated information... that will probably confuse you when you see things on the exam that you studied, but are outdated. Some of my questions on the exam used multiple choice answers that were for the old rules. If you were using old material to study, you probably would have picked the answer… and it would have been wrong because the rules have changed. For example when doing pensions, under the old rules, you'd use ABO, but now you use PBO. Also, in government, things have changed. Some funds have merged into other ones and some have been deleted.

Either buy new Becker material or try a different study method. Roger Philipp is really good if you like someone who's really energized and makes learning fun.

So basically my advice is to get any other program other than outdated material.

Try the Bisk Intensive DVD.  Robert lectures on it and does an excellent job.  I say this without reservation.  You won't regret it.

Robert Monette is known as a nationaly recognized expert on the CPA exam and this has been demonstrated in the Intensive lectures.  Trust me, he is really good when I say that. I now know alot because of him.

Buy them both for AUD and FAR. They are worth the investment.  You just only need brush-up for the exam and the Intensive is ideal for that.

Though they ARE Expensive...i have passed three exams and am using Becker exclusively.  I have a very regimented study program that i stick to and it has worked for me and i cannot say enough about becker...it works... I'm in banking not in accounting (though in accounting department at bank) but it's been a while since i looked at this stuff (graduated college in 03) so, i have had to basically "reteach" me a lot of this stuff and becker has been spot on...
