CPAChess, quick question on AICPA released questions, these are from the Wiley book or from AICPA.org?  Thanks.  Also, I plan to use just the Wiley book without buying the Wiley software, based on your and other responses, I won't miss anything from the CD?  Please confirm.  Thanks a lot!

Thanks CPAChess!  I hope to pass on my first shot with BEC.  I plan to study full-time for 5 weeks straight for BEC, 8-10 hours/day.  I hope this is enough (?).

Did you feel prepared when taking BEC?  Any pointers based on your very recent experience with it?  Thanks again!

5 weeks straight at 8-10 hours a day is more than enough.  I really did not get into study mode until Christmas Day. LOL!  (I was so scared and uptight about my REG result and I can not concentrate.  Result came out on Christmas Day!) And I do work and have little kids.  So I can only study 2-3 hours on Mon-Fri, and all day weekend.  But I felt more than prepared when I took the exam on 1/17.  Hopefully I passed!

Don't understimate the IT part.  I thought since I have background with IT it would be easy for me.  Some questions and technical terms is easy, but there's just too many questions that is too confusing.

Also, STUDY all the previously released AICPA question.  Some of the questions at my exam are very similarly structured with them.  VERY SIMILAR.

For the list of previously released AICPA question 2005-2008 see here:

Yes, I confirm that in BEC and REG, there are more MCQ's in the book than in the CD.  I can't verify AUD and FAR as I have not used it yet for those sections.

The major advantage of the CD version is convenience.

  • In Wiley, you can click an icon to see the related text regarding the topic.
  • Also, (both in Gleim and Wiley), the explanation will be available each time you choose an answer (in the Study Mode) so that you don't have to flip the books back and forth to read the explanation.  I overcome this, by making a copy of the pages where the answers are explained and so I can read it side by side with the question.
  • In the software you can increase the font, in the book I have to use a magnifying glass.  LOL!  (I have bad eyesight).

Good Luck with you.

thanks sugar0045, you're right..according to what I read on the bisk website B. Monette doens't do all hot spots for BEC. MOnette does the intensive DVD.

Jerry, are you studying BEC with Bisk and Yaeger? which one do you like better.

I am doing the Yaeger Home Study for BEC.  Additionally, I have the Bisk Hot Spots for IT and Cost Accounting.

I do not like the Bisk regular review courses.  I packed up their REG "Classic Review" and I sent it back to the company!
