In terms of advice, I would recommend going to a school
where you want to work that has good recruiting. That's
about it. Like I said before I initially thought I would
just earn the credits in a non degree sequence at a
community college. I'm glad I went to a good state
school that had good recruiting where the professors had
good relationships.
Other than that, I would just be a little cautious. The
accounting firms are obviously cautious to hire anyone
right now. I would also think about considering a career
in restructuring & bankruptcy and litigation support. It
sounds like that would fit into your background nicely
and also may be a more attractive practice given the
economy. Check out the Association of Insolvency and
Restructuring Advisors and the certification they offer.
