The AICPA recommends 2 - 3 hours of self study (M/C + Sims) for each hour of lecture that you watch. Just going by our course lecture times, this works out as follows:

FAR - 96 hours
REG - 72 hours
AUD - 60 hours
BEC - 48 hours

Keep in mind that is just a minimum suggestion - I think previous posters really have the idea of "self study" down to a science! And I definitely recommend a previous poster's suggestion of sitting down and writing out your entire week - from waking up to going to bed, you need to account for each and every hour in your day (including TV time, nights out with friends, etc - although some of that should be put on the back burner until you pass!). Otherwise, it's just too easy to procrastinate.

Where did you find the time breakdown? I tried looking on the AICPA website but I can't find it.  Do you have a link I could go to research this further?  Thanks.

Can someone help me, I am using the Gleim study materials for BEC and just started studying. To be honest, the book looks too voluminous (600 pages and more). Can someone suggest a study plan for me? Is there an alternative way to go through this without having to digest the whole book? Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the club, Terence.  Life as you know it just ended.

There are no shortcuts.  There are no alternatives.  The book is NOT too thick.  Don't skip anything.

The test prep audio/video CDs will walk you through the material.

I studied whenever I had a free minute, I pretty much had no life at all for 6 months.  I went so far that I took my study materials into the bathroom with me when I was using the toilet and I printed out study materials and taped them to my wall for when I was showering.

FAR - 3 months
REG - 2 months
AUD - 3 weeks
BEC - 2 weeks

I am pretty sure you are my hero, wow! Now THAT is dedication. I'm going to have to point to this post next time one of our students complains that they don't have enough time to study :)
