Hi,

I cleared BEC in Aug 2007 and gave other parts but failed in all the three parts (FAR 73, AUD 70, REG 65). I am planning to retake the exams but my 18 month period expires end of February 2009. I have another six months to clear all the three parts.

I am confused whether should I cancel my BEC and take fresh all the four parts or give the three parts in the next six months. I am confident that I would clear the exams but I am more scared with the one I would be appearing in Jan/Feb window of 2009. If I clear the first two exams in Oct/Nov window and fail the last one, my 18 month period would expire and I will have to forego all the credit for the three passed exams and retake all the four.

I am little confused with the 18 month requirement. Can someone who has more information on this explain me and suggest some course of action whether I should go ahead and take the rest three or cancel the credit for passed BEC exam and write all the four exams again?

Thanks

It's my understanding that you don't lose all of your credits at once.  Just one at a time depending on when you passed that exam.  So if you passed two more exams like you stated, but failed the one in Jan/Feb., you would only lose the BEC credit.

This will probably depend on your state board's rules.  But I believe mrw04c is correct as to the majority (possibly all) state boards.  Just be sure to check the requirements, or make a direct inquiry, with the state you're interested in.
