don't ever give up.  it will happen.

This should be an inspiration: http://www.cpa-exam.org/cpa/download/Technical_Report_Tracki ng_Candidates_Zhang_2007.pdf

99% of candidates who take it 5 or 6 times pass.  It's not how, but when.

Like Fight Club says "Sooner or later the survival rate of everyone becomes 0".. with CPA exam, "Sooner or later, we all have to pass".

I don't agree with that at all. I only scored 79 on Regulation and I know I can prepare a tax return better than some people who scored in the 90's. I don't think it's fair to judge on your results of your exam. Some of us just suck at taking tests and can't answer questions in MCQ format, but when it comes to the ACTUAL job of accounting we kick a$$, its not fair to say you got a 99 in Regulation so you can prepare a return better than someone else who got a 75 or 80.

If scores really effected how good you are at your job, than they would put them on your license and also people would ask your scores when they interview you.

I tend to agree with this. Any accounting firm worth their salt would take a myriad of factors into an employment decision, and to my knowledge no one cares about the score on the exam -- just that one passes. When you think about it, it's mostly for the client's benefit anyways (who would obviously want a CPA doing audit/tax/consulting work considering that's what they're paying for) and most people outside of our profession probably don't even know what the Elijah Watt Sells award is.
In the medical profession, the score you get on the exam strongly affects your career potential. In our profession, it does not as long as you pass. I doubt this is by accident. If high scores on the exam really correlated with high performance on the job in relation to low(er) scores/low performance, I think the CPA designation would have a different kind of importance than it does now.

The only people who care about Sellis award winners are the winners
themselves.

Since the test is adaptive, computerized, and houses a much larger test bank
of questions than what is offered, no two tests are identical. Thus, its
plausible to take two equally intelligent people with identical preparation
and suffer differing fates based on the assembly of their respective exams.

true.  I've yet to sit but from my friends accounts you could take two of the same tests back to back and score 10-15 points different on each one.
