" Applicants must apply for licensure within one year of receiving the licensure package. If an applicant does not apply for licensure within this one year period, CPA examination grades expire and the applicant must reapply and retake the CPA examination."

Do you have a back up plan ?

I am in contact with Fl State of Accountancy and FICPA. I believe if they change the rule, they should give some grace period, cause the change will affect many people.

Hi flcpa. I am a Floridian and I believe this is the way it works. The new rule applies AFTER 1/1/09. If you were approved to take the CPA exam back in 2008, then you are under the old rule. No work experience is required. In my case, I won't be approved to take the exam until this year so I have to fulfill the work experience requirement before I can become certified.

You may want to verify this on the Dept of Business & Professional Regulation's website.

Hello clas08, thanks for the input. I believe there is some confusion here. I believe you are talking about the new rules for sitting in the CPA exam, and I am confused with the new rules for CPA license application. I did not get too much help from DBPR, but FICPA did tell me that the new rule would not apply in my case. I guess I just send the application without work experience form and then go from there. Thanks everyone.
