Hello clas08, thanks for the input. I believe there is some confusion here. I believe you are talking about the new rules for sitting in the CPA exam, and I am confused with the new rules for CPA license application. I did not get too much help from DBPR, but FICPA did tell me that the new rule would not apply in my case. I guess I just send the application without work experience form and then go from there. Thanks everyone.

Hi again flcpa. Actually, I was talking about your license. The new rule would not apply to you. You sat for your exam under the old rule so you will get your license under the old rule.

Make sure of the past couple posts, the way I read it was it doesn't depend on when you originally sat but when you completed all sections.  I called the state board up since I sat for the exam prior to the rule and obviously I haven't completed it yet but they said I needed to send my work experience in.  I did it anyways since it was just the signature of my boss and getting it notarized, but double check.

Hello JDMilan, thanks for sharing with us your thoughts. I passed all 3 sections before 12/31/08, and passed the last section on 01/09/09. Still confused if the work experience rule will apply to me or not. I did more research and found out this:

http://www.myfloridahouse.gov/SECTIONS/Documents/loaddoc.asp x?FileName=h1099.IBFA.doc&DocumentType=Analysis&Bill Number=1099&Session=2009

The bill specifies that an individual does not have to meet the one year work experience requirement if the applicant for licensure has completed the educational requirements by December 31, 2008, and passes the examination before June 30, 2010. The bill removes the authority for a board or the DBPR to require a state law and rule portion of an examination.

I believe the new work experience rule affects many applicants and the Board is discussing this issue and try to make it more clear to everyone. It looks like this bill is not finalized.

Many of my friends got the approval to sit in the CPA exam in 2006 and 2007, but have not passed all 4 sections so far. So they are all very concerned about the new rule.

I hear you, I got approval to sit back in 2005 and taking my last part May 5th (hopefully pass), Like I said before I submitted my work experience in anyways since it wasn't a hassle for me to do.  I think the real concern comes in if you need the work experience for licensure appliation since you need to apply one year after your last passing score.

Hello JD Milan, If you already passed 3 sections, I am sure you will pass FAR. My experience on FAR is doing exercises or multiple choice questions is very helpful.

On my 04/16/09 posting, I think one year work experience rule does not apply to me. FICPA also told me that the new rule would not apply to me. But for some reason, I still worry for it.

Does anyone know how long we need to wait to receive the license after we send the license application?  I sent the application last week and if I have to wait for long time, then I know something is wrong. Thanks!
