Are you kidding me JDMilan? I only waited for 3 months to get the approval to sit in the test. 6 months of waiting is way too long.

I think the reason for FL state to change the rule is to increase revenue for the state by lowing the education requirement to make everyone qualified to sit in the test. But I believe the State should simply the application process and improve work efficiency to achieve the revenue goals.

Hello cflas08, my friend sent her application in Dec. 08, and so far she has not received approval yet. She has Master's in accounting, but like me, never worked in CPA firm, never worked under a CPA's supervision. I think the new rule on work experience may affect her application.

If she sat for the CPA exam before 1/1/09 then the work experience requirement doesn't apply if she's in Florida. I don't know about other states. Did she receive confirmation that they received her application? I urge everyone to verify receipt of an application because sometimes things get lost on a desk, or behind the desk.

LOL, referring to the past above it took the board of accountancy in Florida to get me approved in 6 months, I remember when I first applied (literally on my first day of work at Crowe) and it took forever, I used to call them weekly to get their butts in gear.

Six months? Okay that scares me because I've read all over the internet that it shouldn't take longer than 8 weeks. I will have to call up my contacts in Tallahassee because I refuse to wait longer than that. Then again on the bright side, I'll probably be done studying by then...lol.

Hello cflas08, not sure if she received confirmation, but she did receive calls recently from State regarding her application to sit in the test. By Dec. 08, she noticed the new rule requiring one year of work experience and she told me that if she sent her application before 12/31/08 and State received her application before 12/31/08, then she would be exempt from work experience rule. Anyway, she is still waiting.

Yes, 6 months, it was crazy.  They literally have one person doing all the paperwork in Gainesville/Tally.  6 months was for me, other results may vary...lol.

I will try to dig up my paperwork to get the exact date of approval.  As I know when I submitted my stuff into the boards.
