I checked my paperwork and it was 3 months, I guess it felt more like 6 months; lol.  Paperwork dated the end of August, and I applied beginning of May.

Either way, submit ahead of time and anticipate it taking 3 months so you should give yourself probably 5 months to apply prior to actually taking the exam, so you have ample time to schedule your NTS, I also recommend scheduling your NTS via email and not snail mail.  I usually get responses (NTS#) in a couple business days, usually less than three days.

Yes, 6 months, it was crazy.  They literally have one person doing all the paperwork in Gainesville/Tally.  6 months was for me, other results may vary...lol.

I will try to dig up my paperwork to get the exact date of approval.  As I know when I submitted my stuff into the boards.

You're kidding about the one person processing paperwork correct? That is absolutely insane and totally beauracratic(sp?) for that to be going on.

Oh okay...phew!!

Is it possible that they are doing background checks? I know those take a while sometimes for the report to come back.

Not sure around background checks, funny thing is how easy it is to get a dang hand gun in the US as compared to getting approved to take an exam....<scratches head>
