cflas08,  do you live in Florida? where did you get this information? I have heard numerous things regarding the new one year work experience rule.  So you are saying that you can apply for licensure without the one year experience?

An advisor in the accounting department at the university here told me that Florida is going to extend the amount of time in which your scores expire.   I've talked to a lot of people and nobody really knows whats going on yet.

Yes, I live in Florida. According to the DBPR website, you cannot apply for licensure until you have the 150 credit hours. But you can apply if you don't have the one year of experience. All is going to happen is that they will put your application on hold until you have the experience.

I won't start working under a CPA probably until I pass the exam. So, if I have to wait until I have the one year experience, there is going to be some horrible overlapping which will result in me having to take the entire exam again if I can't apply for the exam until I have the experience. You have to apply for the certification within one year after passing the exam.

cflas08, you are confusing me.  Why do you say that you will have to take the entire exam again if you can't apply for the exam until you have the experience? Wouldn't you just have to take the one section that expired?

By the way, which part of florida are you in?

1) You must have the 150 credit hours to apply for the license.

2) You do not have to have the one year experience to apply for the license but you will NOT be approved for the license until you have the experience.

You have one year after passing the CPA exam to apply for the license or your grades will expire resulting in you having to take the entire exam again. So, even if you don't have the experience after passing the CPA exam, apply for the license anyway.

I live in the Orlando area.   :)

I did know someone personally in the state of Florida who passed years ago and then recently applied for his license.  He had to go through a lot of hoops and hurdles along with meeting with the accountancy board to state his case but he did get his license after waiting like 5 or so years.  Just an fyi :)

Hmmm...maybe it had something to do with the old rule. It says right on the DBPR's site that you only have a year to apply or you will lose your scores.

I hope your test went ok on the 5th.  :)
