Florida has a one-year limit!
California has an either/or limit: either passed the exam within 5 years, or 1-year experience under a CPA within 5 years of applying for the license (with 150hrs education). |

I was told in the FL thread that in Florida your application was put on hold until you had the work experience, and that the 1-year limit was just to get your application in? If you're right then I'd have to start a job before even passing the final parts. I have 5 months experience already but I have no guaratnees that it will even count since the form has a box to check indicating I was there 1 year, which I wasnt. Jesus, why am I even taking the exam, with this economy its very probable I wont have a job. I guess I'd better cancel my first examination and apply to sit in Alabama instead.

That was me who said that. You should contact DBPR if you're not sure. It says on their website that it doesn't matter whether you get the experience before, during, or after passing the exam as long as your experience totals 1 year. You need to apply for the CPA license within one year or your scores expire. I think the purpose of the one year limit is that they will assume you are no longer interested in becoming licensed in Florida and you are removed from the system.
Call at like 8 in the morning and you won't have to be put on hold.
And it's pointless to sit for the Alabama exam if you're not going to live in Alabama. I think their requirements are different than Florida's so you will still need to meet Florida's requirements if you want to transfer your license back to Florida.
