Your best bet is to contact the NJ Board and see what their requirements are to be a CPA in that state. Most states have their requirements online so you probably won't have to call anyone. After you know what you need (more hours, work experience, etc.) to become licensed then figure out what you already have and the difference is what you need to get.
For instance, in South Carolina you have to have 150 total credit hours and I think that 36 of them have to be core account classes. If you already had the 36 accounting hours then you could take some easy courses just to get the 150 hour requirement. If you didn't have the 36 hours then you need to get those and then worry about the 150 hours requirement.
We also have to have at least one year of work experience under a CPA and must pass the ethics exam with a 90 or better but that isn't required in every state.
