Thanks MPinIA for your input and congratulations on becoming a CPA!! I'll hopefully finish the rest of my exams, including ethics, by the end of this year.

Beware: the CA ethics exam score is only valid for 1 year. I would wait until you finish writing your last exam.

Section 10 of the Accountancy Regulations requires that the ethics examination be passed no sooner than two years prior to the Board’s consideration of the application for licensure.

I also checked with the California Board and they confirmed it's good for two years.

I just took the Ethics exam for Iowa.  You just order a cd or book from the aicpa website to get the Ethics credit.  I got the CD version.  You go through the slides and then take a quiz at the end (need 90%+) which is submitted online and then provides you with your certificate of completion.  It's a pretty easy and painless process - compared to the rest of the exam! :)  Good luck!

Just to make sure I understand this correctly. You get your ethic exam and then one has the option to submit the answers online?

so it won't matter if I get the book or online ethics book for the test since I have the option to submit the answers online. Is my understanding of this process correct?

Thanks a bunch!

You can also submit your answers via mail on a Scantron-type (fill in the bubbles) document.  Online is much easier and you can get instant feedback as to your score.

Truthfully, you don't even need to do the course to pass the exam.  I just went through the study guide and looked up all the answers to the test and got a 100%.
