Guys, does everyone think the lecture CDs are essential as opposed to just reading the material? |

In my opinion I would say in either case you must read the book the lectures alone are not enough, but they will help you ,specially when you want to cover something for the first time, to understand faster those areas which you might struggle with. The lecturer will give you real world examples for those hard to understand topics which might ease a little the studying process.

Would you say that you are better off reading the book, going over the passmaster questions twice or reading the book, listening to the lectures, and going over the passmaster questions once?
Based on a tight schedule, which of the options above is more ideal to score higher on the exam.

It's really a matter of self preference and how you feel you can learn better.
As per my experience I feel that reading the book, taking intensive notes and going over the Passmaster questions a couple of times is where the real learning is.
In my opinion going over the MCQ multiple times is way more beneficial than watching the lectures. But again it's just my humble opinion.

I second that notion. Whats helped me the most has been just doing the multiple choice over and over. I have not read the lectures once for any of the three tests I have taken, however I do skim through them during my final review. Of course, what works for some doesn't work for others...

GordonBombay,
Just out of curiosity, do you just repeat the MCs over and over and NOT read the book at all? What is your studying strategy?
Thanks in advance.

Well I of course follow along with the lectures and read all the highlighting and stuff. But what I have been doing is just reworking all of the MC until I can get nearly all of them right in one try. Then for the final review I go back and skim through the lectures, particularly noting the Pass Keys and heavy concepts), and then redo the MC again. Flashcards have not worked well for me and I pretty much regret buying them. I also do the Final Review course in the two days leading up to the test.
I remember reading somewhere in the Becker handbook or whatever that your final review of reading should be limited to a half hour per chapter. I think they feel that reading the entire book is a bit much and hard to comprehend and make things stick. What makes things stick in your mind is repetition and being able to recognize the general question formats.
Anyways this is what has worked for me thus far...good luck!

GordonBombay,
Thanks for your response.
May I ask you this - when you are reading the highlighted parts/passkeys/mneumonics, etc, do you memorize them as well OR do you JUST READ THEM ONLY ONCE AND WHATEVER STICKS STICKS?
Do you just learn the concepts from repeating the MCs?
I have the problem of spending too much time on the reading and I try to memorize stuff when I read the chapter. It is making me very frustrated b/c I feel that I am not making progress.
I would appreciate any advice. Please help. Thanks in advance.
