Hey,

Yeah Florida is so unclear about this. I am kind of in the same situation. I have a bachelor's in acg from FL, and want to take the exam prior to completing my MSA. I have gone ahead and applied to CAL to sit for the exam, but I'm not sure if FL will take my CA exam credits as I will not be elligible to sit for FL cpa exam at the time I do sit for the CA exam. When I called the FL board of accounting today to ask about this matter the only person who apparenlty knows the answer was gone. Only Florida, lol.... Anyone have a definite answer?

Mike

I'm in Florida. As long as you have a bachelor's degree(24 hours in accounting) with a major in accounting, you are eligible to sit. But, you won't get your license until you have 1 year work experience and 150 credit hours with 36 being in upper division accounting.

Yes, but I have a bachelor's degree in accounting with only 21 hours in upper level accounting (and I dont have the required 6 hours of law). So having a bachelors in accounting does not definently qualify one as elligible to sit for the exam.

Okay then, you can take another class at a university as a non-degree seeking student and get that extra class to sit in addition to the business law classes. But you will still have to get the remaining 4 classes in order to meet that 150 hr requirement.

Like Nan said, if you're not from Florida it won't make sense to take the test for this state.

Eh.... I already sent my application off to California. Does anyone know if I pass the CA exam, and then meet all the qualifications and get licenced as a CA CPA if I can transfer (or get endorced) in Florida? Thanks for any help, this matter is starting to affect my studying.

As long as you meet the 150 credit hour requirement and the 1 year work experience under a CPA, you can successfully transfer by endorsement. For the accounting courses, you have to make sure you have 36 hours of upper division accounting. Plus you have to make sure you have 39 hours of general business courses.

This is what you need to know as to whether you can transfer to Florida or not.

Good luck!   :)

Thank you very much CFL:). I really appreciate your help! Are you located in central FL? I went to school down at UCF. Also did you do a transfer yourself?

Thanks again!

Nope, I was born and raised in Central Florida. I attended FSU but I now live in Kissimmee. I love it here, even though I'm originally from a neighboring county.
