Once you receive your NTS, what is the quickest anybody has been able to schedule an exam for?  Is it possible to get a testing date say 1-2 weeks after you receive your NTS, or do you usually have to wait like 3-4+ weeks (or longer)?  Thanks.

That's a good question because I'm wondering the same thing. By the time I receive my NTS, I'll be done studying for FAR. Florida is very slow. I heard 45 days is the waiting period but I'm not sure.

Although I have not done this personally, I have heard of appointments being made with as little as five days notice.  Making appointments on short notice will obviously limit the availability of testing sessions, however.

Do you receive your notice to schedule before or after you pay for the exam??  I got a letter in the mail 5 weeks ago saying my application was approved, and to call 1800-CPA-EXAM (NASBA) to pay for the exam.  So i've been calling NASBA one a week for the past five weeks and they keep saying i'm not in their system and florida needs to send them my info... I call the FL department of business licensing Customer support center about once a day and get a million different answers.  One guy said "You are supposed to receive your notice to schedule 3 weeks after your application is approved."  One girl said "You pay for the exam and THEN receive your notice to schedule." And someone else at the customer support center gave me the phone number to some Pearson test center that didnt even offer the CPA exam!!!  What do i do??

Rachel,

I am not sure about the process in Florida, but Missouri requires payment with the application.  ( I can't remember if I sent with the actual application, or to different address at the same time as application.)  Either way, payment was part of the application process, and a notice to schedule (I believe) would not have been sent prior to payment.  The letter you received sounds like you're completing the process correctly, but somewhere an administrative mistake may have been made.

I would continue making contact until you can reach someone who has specific information to your individual account, whether that be with NASBA or Florida.  Once you find a contact, be sure that you have continued access to that person going forward (phone extension, email, etc.) Hopefully this individual will be able to direct you through the remaining steps you need to take to begin testing.

Good luck, and I hope everything works out for you
