I would listen to the rest of the lectures. I also have the cram. The IT portion is mostly definitions so there really is not much to test there. THe lecture was fast - I agree. If you go further in the DVD (Especially NPV and cost accounting) they show you different formulas and other neat ways to deal with problems. IT - You just have to read on your own. Nobody can really teach you definitions. Cindy does a great job with cost accounting. I'm going through the Econ portion and Mcmillian gives examples that sticks to your head.

The purpose of Yaeger cram is not to teach you the concepts (that's what the homestudy is for) It is supposed to get you that extra few points and to do a final review on the material. You should know most of the concepts already before purchasing this product. I think it's a great product so far and it's def. helping me study this time around.

Hey Dparkx81,

Good luck with your upcoming BEC exam.  I used the complete Yaeger homestudy for BEC and thought it was wonderful.  Hey, just wanted to pass along...in the full homestudy, Yaeger emphasizes the IT portion of the exam is apx. 20% and you mentioned "not much to test there".  Just didn't want you to be caught off guard test day, work ALL the Wiley IT questions.  I agree, the nature of the IT material is such that you can't really teach it, you just have to spend the time knowing the IT definitions and applicable concepts. Information technology is pretty cut and dry and I think the Yaeger lectures spend more time on the the concepts you are less likely to understand on your own.   Take care.

Man your making me get this book today so I can get those IT questions you are raving about. I am using the Becker and it is light on IT. I cant quote exactly but the guy says to just study the material they present and use your intuition which is why they don't give as much questions.

Thank you tryingCPA - it was actually a typo. I meant to say not much to Lecture there instead of test = ) My mistake.
Thanks for the heads up though

MD-futCPA - I would get the book. Also are you taking the CPA in MD? I am in MD but am taking it in VA.

Dparkx81 - No problem :)  Thought that might be the case, just wanted to be sure lol.

mdfutcpa - I wouldn't rely on intuition for the IT questions.  I found them to be very specific and I don't think I would have known them intuitively.  Now, having said that, I'm absolutely not an IT person.

Good luck to you both with BEC!  I'm taking REG day after tomorrow and am feeling overwhelmed.  But, I've prepped everything, so all we can do is our best.

I know you should not rely on your tuition. I am only telling you what the Becker teacher says at the end of the lecture to do for this part of the exam haha.

I just picked up the Wiley for extra practice questions, since I am unemployed and taking it on 7/22 I have a lot of time to get this all done.

No I am not in MD they are my initials, I am from PA.

Good Luck with the tests tomorrow I hope you studied enough this one is harder than you think!
