What state are you in that started the available testing window on your application date? That's just wrong! I would immediately complain to my state coordinator about that one, because I think someone made a serious typo on your NTS approval.

My Louisiana NTS window began on the date my application was approved, not on the date I applied. However my application was processed much faster than expected (probably because I had pre-cleared certain matters with the state CPA board), so I would up with an NTS that expired in the middle of the testing month and had no way to extend it for the final 10 days.

As an aside, when I compare the unreasonably rigid timelines we get stuck with on an NTS, and I also see people complain about Becker's one-year expiration, I'd say that the NTS timelines are far worse than Becker's.

I do agree that it was unfair to rob you of a month or more, it wasn't unreasonable for you to get them done. You obviously planned to knock them out since you got 4 sections on 1 6 month NTS.

End of May
Beginning of July
End of July
End of August

That being said, I'd still complain and try to get it changed from the app date to the approval date.

That makes no sense. Maybe it's because I'm in Illinois, a non-NASBA state, but when we get the NASBA payment coupon, we have 90 days to pay the NASBA fees, and then 6 months from the date of payment for the NTS. That is just f-ed up.

I am in VA and the NTS is valid for 1 year. Initially I applied only for one section and thought the next time, it's better if I apply for remaining 3. Only after receiving my payment coupon I realized that I will have to pay for all 3 together and will get only 1 year to pass the remaining sections. I contacted my state board to have my payment coupon broken up. They said they can't split it but can cancel it, and I will have to apply again for individual sections. So, in case anyone realizes this before getting your NTS, definitely contact your state board. There are some things which we are not aware of (at least I wasn't) but can be done.

Thank you all!

I just called 800-CPA-EXAM. The person on the phone was so unpolite! She said she could do nothing but give me a email adress of the coordinator... I sent email to the coordinator. I don't know when can I recieve the respone...

I will fight with them! As you said, they want to rob one month of the 6 months from me!

As I planned, if I receive NTS in April and it will expire in Oct I probably could finish 4 parts. I have written my REG in May and passed it. I scheduled FAR and BUS at end of Aug. If they can extend my NTS to Oct, I think it is possible to finish it. Otherwise I have to pay them the exam fee and admin fee again...
