Well, I took the exam this afternoon. I walked out feeling surprisingly good about myself. But the more I think about it, the more I am questioning some of the answers I put.

Took me all but 14 seconds to finish the exam with no breaks at all. The first sim wasn't too bad, the second wasn't really difficult (unless I missed something) but was pretty large with some 7 tabs.

There were probably 8-10 questions out of the 72 that I basically made an educated guess on. The rest I "think" I got right, less a few silly mistakes potentially.

I didn't particularly see a noticeable increase in difficulty between the testlets. Perhaps they got harder, but I really couldn't tell definitively.

I did everything, including the research tabs. So everything was truly done to the best of my ability, I can say that for sure.

Whether I pass could honestly go either way. My gut tells me that I will pass. But, if I don't, I might be a bit surprised, but wouldn't be too too surprised really.

For now, I am going to assume a pass and move on to FAR.

Good luck to everyone taking REG. Hopefully I won't have to revisit this forum section (beyond just out of curiosity).

Anyone going to the FAR section soon, I'll see you over there!

Hi Bryris,

It sounds like you had a good exam experience today, which is awesome!  Good luck as you wait for your score and move on to FAR (sorry to say, but a nightmare)!

Anyway, I was wondering if you had studied the 2008 tax regulation amounts or the new 2009 ones (just updated on Becker's website today:  http://www.beckercpa.com/students/2009_Regulation_Tax_Law_Update.pdf ).  Did you see any of the 2009 numbers tested on the exam today, or just the 2008 ones?  I'm taking REG on Saturday, so I'm worried about whether or not I need to know the 2009 numbers.

Thanks in advance!

At what point do you know if you are ready for REG?

REG will be my first test, so I have no idea what to
expect except for what Becker has shown me.

I've gone over the all Becker MCQ 5 times.
Done all the simulations.
Re-read the book three times.
Made and Reviewed my notes on all the sections.
Made and Reviewed my flashcards for material I had
trouble with.

At some point, you start "memorizing" the questions. How
do I know if you are ready for sure to pass?

If anything, 2009 is not that much different from 2008
numbers. The phase outs and credit amts have gone up
though. I looked it over and there is a new deduction for
Real Estate Tax -$500. Also because of the economy the
way it is the IRS has allowed such things like the
economy recovery payments not to be taxable. Small things
.

Bottom line, it's not that much more and wouldn't take
you that long to go over it. Still, I understand how you
would feel studying something you don't really need.

Thanks for sharing your experience, bryris.  I'm sure you did great.  Good luck with FAR.

I think you are more than prepared.  I am not using Becker, but I did not do nearly as much preparation as you.  I got a 74 on my first attempt at REG.  I passed AUD and BEC in my first attempt and I never prepared to the extent that you have.  I am taking REG for the second time next month.

Good luck.  I think you will do fine.
