I'm a little hesitant to tell you to sit for FAR before having Advanced Accounting. A lot will depend on how you learn. That part still confuses me, but I managed to learn enough and squeaked by.

I don't think taking advanced accounting is necessary.  If you have intermediate accounting, that should be good enough.  but i would start with FAR first just to get it out of the way first.


When I took advanced accounting in college, it was actually quite important. Otherwise, they wouldn't make us take it. It is filled with information about consolidating financial statements amongst other things.
