Have you ever thought about starting your own business? If you are smart, you can learn on the go.

I agree with you.  What are the objection of the  CPAs to starting their own business?

No  I think it easy to get into a private company from Public. I just interviewed for factory accountant job. Seemed like it would be an easy transition but I want to Pass the CPAs first that is my career goal.

Especially if you have Big 4 experience and have all 4 sections. Jeeze I heard this girl turned down a huge company (she was from a top 10) to just study for the CPA.

That's interesting, because I have heard of ex big 4 people having difficulty finding jobs after being laid off in this economy. The problem is not getting interviews per se, but when you are competing against someone who had done the actual work and possibly asks for less money. in this economy, the employers have less reason to choose the public accounting person. I have had quite a few interviews but that hasn't turned into any offers so far. At most, public accounting experience puts you on the same level as someone with hands on experience, but does not give you any edge. I don't think you should turn down a decent job to study for the CPA. It's an exam that may be hard to pass when you work, but not impossible. Actually I have had interviewers specifically tell me they don't want CPAs during an interview for an industry position. The CPA is definitely good to have in the long term, but that is in addition to experience.
