I don't know if MaciekNY has 150 credits or not.  If not, then my advice will not work.   If he has the 150 credits, he will not have to retake the exam (CPA exam is uniform throughout the nation).  He can simply transfer the NY score to Illinois, then he needs to take the Illinois ethics exam to be certified.

Whenever
MaciekNY gets his experience signed in the future, he can send the form 4B to NY at that time.   NY CPA board will still have his CPA exam record.

By the way, auditing experience is no longer required anymore in NY.  Any experience certified by a CPA in the United States will be qualifying experience.  In other words, NY is moving towards AICPA's Uniform Accountancy Act.  This makes CPA similar to a driver's license (flexible mobility).

Really?  Since you know, let me ask you this then.  I've been taking the CPA exam for Florida, can I transfer them to Alabama?  I've been thinking I was going to have to get my Florida license and then transfer the actual license over to Alabama.

Below is the website for the AL CPA Licensing requirement:

http://all.nasbatools.com/license/list_license?id=4

*:  Applicants who passed the exam in a state other than Alabama and are not licensed in any state may apply for an Initial Certificate/Registration/Permit to Practice by transfer of grades.

*:  Reciprocal Certificate/Permit to Practice. An applicant having a valid unrevoked license to practice as a CPA from any jurisdiction may apply for a Reciprocal Certificate and Permit to Practice. Applicants that hold foreign designations may also apply through reciprocity, including Chartered Canadian Accountants.

So you may transfer your grades to AL, but you may also have to pay additional application fees.

Thanks Dark, I didn't mean for you to have to research that for me, but I really do appreciate it.  Thank you!

How about try to get a license somewhere else like I did.  I am NY candidate, but I have my Registered license from Illinois (no experience required).  The downside is that Illinois requires 150 education credits before you take the CPA exam.  There are a few other states that still have the two tier systems.  Try to get the out-state license, and then transfer to NY by endorsement after a few years.

Problem with that is, he would have to retake all 4 parts of the exam.

Um, no you don't. Once you pass the whole thing, you pass and you never lose the credit. Even if you apply in a different state it doesn't affect your credit. That's why they call it the UNIFORM CPA EXAM.
