find a job. Maybe its because i have a degree in psychology....

If you want to get into the Big 4 as an associate, the best way is through college recruitment process.  If you haven't graduated, make sure to get in touch with the Big 4 recruiters on campus.  If there aren't any on your campus, go to the nearest school w/ Beta Alpha Psi.  They hold events inviting Big 4 recruiters.  Submit your resume early as August.  They interview October.  Hire by November for the following year start date.

If you've already graduated undergrad, go back to grad. school for a Masters.  Even if you take a couple classes a semester, you'll get more exposure to Big 4.

Big 4 recruits the most from schools.  Don't let a low GPA stop you.  Get any experience...doesn't have to be accounting.

I can do that but I have a crappy GPA. I would have to score a really good GMAT unless they take into consideration that I can pay cash and hopefully I pass the CPA's. I dont care about the big 4 anymore I just want to work.

I'm a current graduate student going for an MS in taxation. I graduated with a BBA in Public Accounting in May of this year. I'm on schedule to finish my MS in June/July of next year. I applied to all Big Four Firms, including a ton of mid-size and smaller firms. In total I applied for 23 entry-level jobs all through my college's career system. I've been rejected by 13/23 so far (0 interviews). My overall GPA is 3.48, major GPA 3.4. I'm currently working full time as a bookkeeper at this very small public accounting firm, while also going to school full time as well. I'm located in NYC and those 23 firms are the biggest in NYC I believe.

I don't understand, is my GPA too low or what? Is the economy that bad? Why haven't I gotten even ONE interview? :(

Yes they look down upon anyone who doesnt have a 3.9 or higher. But honestly I think these firms are really hurting. I am sure you will get a few interviews and hope the president/congress wakes up to the reality on job creation...
