This is an informal forum to discuss career matters, not grammar and writing methodology class.

People who criticize others about their grammar typically are the annoying smart-ass wannabes. Don't be that guy.

Actualy, I think it is related issues.... Correct me please if I'm wrong...

In almost all job ads I see "excellent writing skills" as part of the requirements along with education and experience... And it makes me wonder if I can fit public accounting with my not perfect English... So, I'm actually interested if grammar might cause a problem with performance in CPA firm....

cpakop, sorry for off-topic

Yes you need good grammar/writing skills to work in ANY business environment, and this is generally understood by everyone, including people who don't have perfect grammar like yourself.

But to criticize someone's grammar on an INFORMAL forum is either:

1. Redundant (especially when someone knows his grammar isn't perfect), or

2. Trying to act or sound more intelligent than someone else - which evidently backfired in latestgood's case.

My point? Don't try and tell someone to improve his grammar because it does not make you look smart or superior, especially if you can't even get your grammar correct.

Obviously I don't know you nor the other guy, but your two replies make it seem like you're trying to sound smart and superior much more than he is.

Back to the topic, yes you have to work 10-12 hours a day and record only 8 in your time sheet to make it look like you are quick and smart. This is the game  you have to play. Partners can bill the client whatever they want to bill but you have to get it done withing the time frame you have been given. I think it is a very strange game and it gets worse as unemployment is rising. I just want to learn enough so some day I will be able to work for myself and this motivates me to take on tough projects and work overtime without getting paid for it. If I were not planning on opening my own firm in future, I would be very depressed. It is a shame that the public does not know what kind of abuse is going on in public accounting.

You're interpreting it wrong then.  I'm merely pointing out the fact that nobody wants to hear any lectures from someone about improving grammar on a CPA forum, especially when that someone types up a smartass comment but has poor grammar himself. It doesn't take a smart guy or a genius to understand that.  That's like me criticizing you for being a lazy fatass that doesn't workout when I'm a lazy fatass myself. Hypocritical yes?

His little attack was unecessary.
