I work on the contract negotiation side of insurance not the actuarial side. I am good at maths and stats but not the actuarial good

It may vary state to state but from what I have seen your
experience at a firm needs to be during full time
employment.

Unless you plan on working in accounting, CPA is a waste of time and money. I have worked under 3 different CFOs in my life and none of them had a CPA license. It's just not necessary. If you want to do it to gain some knowledge of accounting - go for it.

Thanks for your inputs everyone!! But I am bored of just working and want to study something. SInce I already have a masters I thought some kind of certification would be a good idea. (Don't want to do a PhD!!) I have no idea which one would be best.

Totally have to disagree with RAIN. CFOs at top companies have their CPAs. I've never worked for a CFO that didn't have his CPA.
